About Chris Meklis
WRITER, ARTS LOVER AND INTERIOR DESIGNER
Always passionate about his first love- The Arts- with special attention to Theatre and Song, but previously putting off any serious sojourn into that realm, 2010 finally saw Chris making positive inroads into his beloved passion- the world of Entertainment and Lifestyle by beginning a career as Lifestyle Writer and Journalist, contributing for such national publications as the Sunday Independent, Gay Pages, Exit, and PIX trade magazine as well as on-line magazines.
At the same time Chris also met mentor Patrick Hopkins- best selling SA author and ex-Wits lecturer who fast became an instrumental sounding board and support in his burgeoning writing career.
Hopkins also assisted in the creation of Chris's first book, Straightening Out The Creases, (currently being completed), the first chapter of which was selected for entry in the 2010 international Bridport Prize- an annual short story competition.
"It would go without saying that self-confidence in my writing talents was born out of the support of my family and friends, but at the same time I cannot stress enough how much the presence of the late Pat Hopkins in my life during our brief but wonderful association through 2010 really catalysed the kick-starting of an actualised writing career!"
INTERIOR DESIGNER
Originally qualified as an Interior Designer with extensive retail and domestic decorating experience, Chris Meklis has worked for some of the leading Interior establishments and companies and ran his own company called Streamlined Designs for over ten years off and on- as the economical landscape of such an undertaking allowed.
"I am an Interior Designer as well as being associated with events and events styling and planning are concerned.
Together with my associates on this side of the spectrum, so too will I showcase what we're doing, what the world of design is innovating (there's so much!) as well as offer my services and the services of our advertisers...all at the click of your mouse."
